Sad News....and Makeup!

Well, my two topics for Thursday don't have anything to do with each other...well, I guess they are both about running, so maybe they do.

First off, yesterday I found out that our last big training run (20 miles) that me, Becki and Kris were suppose to be doing on September 17th (we were going to take the day off work, run our 20 miles together, get all ready and then spend the rest of the day as a girls day...massages, pedi's etc)  Well, yesterday I found out I had been accepted into a Leadership Program through work.  I was SUPER excited!  I had been nominated by my boss, and had to send in references and write an essay, and I was accepted!!  Well, after reviewing all of the MANDATORY meetings, I found out that on September 16-17, I have an overnight retreat I have to go to...Yes, on September 17th....so, no 20 miler with my friends...no girls day with massages and pedi's...SOOO SAD!!!:(
I am now probably going to take another day off that week, by myself, and run my 20 miles....SOLO!  So, after being pretty upset last night, I have now decided that after my SOLO 20 mile run, I will have my own girls day, SOLO!  I can still get a massage and pedi or just spend the rest of my day relaxing and doing things for myself.  Sometimes when things don't go as planned, you have to pick yourself back up and think of something just as exciting to keep you going!  I know a SOLO 20 miles won't be easy, but hopefully it will push me to be that much stronger, because at the end of it, I will know that I have done the whole thing...by myself!  So, I know this is over a month away, but mentally I have to prepare myself....and I will!

Now....makeup!  Allie at That Girl is A Running Fool HERE posted an interesting topic this morning about makeup.  If you haven't read it, you can go HERE to read it.
This made me start thinking about if others wear makeup while running.  I can tell you that if I am running solo or on my treadmill in the morning, I don't worry about putting anything on.  I really don't care how I look on the treadmill, to be quite honest.  Now, on the weekends when I meet up with my running girls, I tend to always put on a little powder and some bronzer, and I curl my eyelashes.  It seems to wake me up, and make me feel a little "prettier" for my run!  Now, on race day, I go all out.  I will put on powder, bronzer, light eye shadow, light eye liner and some mascara.  I tend to always wear lip gloss also.  Another thing I do on race day is put in my diamond earrings.  They are screw on backs, so they won't fall out, but I think the little "bling" completes a race day outfit.
So, my question for you is do you wear makeup when you run?  What about race day...do you wear makeup for that "special" day?  Anything else special you wear on race day (besides the normal race gear)?
XOXO,
Stephanie

If it's an early morning run, then I don't do makeup. But if it's an evening run, I still have on my light makeup from the day. For a race, I will definitely put on my normal makeup. I want to look good for pictures! :)

Race day, I always wear waterproof mascara (I'm not sure why though since I always wear sunglasses, LOL).
I love that you wear diamonds on race day, I wear CZ ones bc hubby is still saving for my real ones. You have to look cute for pictures.
Also, thanks for the link!

No makeup here either....I only wear make up 3-4 times a month and never while running or exercising. I think it might feel weird and run all over my clothes ( I sweat like a dude!)

I have been saving my running skirt and cute green Adidas tank for races--it's flatering, but now all my race pics look the same!

No makeup for me. I actually have eyelash extensions! They're amazing! I can wake up and go and look like I'm ready for the day. I don't wear any other makeup other than a little eyeliner so they're great. I'd recommend them to anyone!

My face is usually covered with salt by the end of a long run and race, pretty gross! Definitely not makeup friendly... :)

I generally don't wear makeup on raceday or I might do a little mascara. Other than that, I don't.

When running during the week, of coruse, b/c I am at work. :)

Did you get my comment on your last post. LOL! I can't believe I was sending emails back to the no-reply@blogger.com

I love that you're still going to do your own "girls day" after your solo 20 miler. You deserve it!

As for make-up. I never wear make-up when running. I just slap on a hat and go! :)

I totally wear makeup on race day! I look a mess without some foundation and mascara. I would never want to look at the pictures if my face wasn't made up!

I look like a wreck during training and on races. Geesh. Maybe I need to try a little harder for races. :)

Morning runs - no makeup.
Runs after work - I will have makeup from earlier that day. No, I don't touch up my makeup before my runs.
Race days - I usually fill in my eyebrows. Maybe line my eye a little. But no mascara or anything that may smudge.

I never wear makeup during a run, unless it's on from earlier in the day or something. But I hate being sweaty and feeling all the products seeping into your pours.

hahahahahah I don't even wear makeup when I'm NOT running. ;-)

congrats on being accepted -- what a huge honor, Stephanie!

This is soo weird that you and Allie posted about this (and that she mentioned me), because I was just thinking about this on my 4 miler yesterday and was going to post about it. really, really strange! I wear a TON less makeup now and less often than before i discovered running. I still wear it most of the time, but not always when i'm running. maybe it's the second child, too!! :-) Will be linking you both in on my upcoming post!!
Hope you're having a fabulous weekend!

I never wear makeup anyway, unless it's a big shindig out (but not even to work, except maybe some foundation) so wearing it on race day isn't even an option. But everyone is different. Nice job landing the leadership at work...nothing wrong with solo runs, and solo girls' day out after :). Enjoy!!

i used to...but honestly it just becomes a smeary mess after a few miles =( and I found it clogged my pores real bad (I guess my pores open up when i run, and were absorbing the makeup). So I go sans. Not as pretty, but a little less messy. And i typically wear sunglasses so I guess it doesn't really matter much haha
